Spider-man Receives a New Lease on Life & A Film Reboot

The Spider-man universe is about to get yet another make-over.  Announced earlier this year Sony and Marvel studios have announced that they would be rebooting the series with a new face for Peter Parker.  While there have been only rumors as to who will be the next Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man both studios have confirmed that the upcoming feature will be written and directed by Drew Goddard.  Goddard is good friends with Avengers director Joss Whedon and is responsible for penning such films as World War Z and Cloverfield.  The Goddard move seems to make sense if Marvel plans to incorporate the Spider-man Character in to the Avengers universe seeing Goddard’s closeness with Whedon.  Also there is talk of an Iron Man appearance and possible fight with Spidey. sin-six Goddard was originally slated to be the author of The Sinister Six movie which would have been based around the core group of Spider-man villains (Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Vulture, and Sandman), however the film has since been scrapped.  Thoughts behind the new series of Spidey flicks may still include The Sinister Six with thoughts of a spin-off for them down the road.  Also, Marvel is looking into joining the peter Parker character at a much younger age, like when he’s in his teens.  The idea behind that would be to use the same actor in a number of films much like the Harry Potter series.  Another idea is not to delve into the Spider-man origin as much sense the fan base should already be fairly familiar to it, and I’m fine with this, I do not need to see Uncle Ben die again. Either way, I cannot wait to see the web-slinger back on the silver screen. (Sources from Latin Review)
